Morning Muse 55 : Where Do You Really Live? Clearing the Clutter Within
We don’t live in houses—we live in our minds. Physical decluttering brings order, but true peace comes from clearing mental clutter: regrets, grudges, worries, and unspoken weight. This reflection is a gentle reminder to tend to the one home we carry everywhere—our beautiful, limitless mind.

Where Do You Live?
Over the past ten days, I’ve been struggling—unsettled, distracted, a little out of sync. So I did what many of us do when our minds feel messy: I tackled the clutter.
Yes, the literal kind—drawers, cabinets, forgotten corners.
Somewhere deep inside, I’ve held this resolve for years:
“Before this year ends, I’ll clear it all out.”
But of course, life isn’t static.
What takes decades to accumulate—memories, items, attachments—can’t be swept away in a weekend.
Lethargy sneaks in. You start. You stall. You get distracted.
You know the drill.
Still, I tried.
I purged the kitchen.
I cleared the living room.
Donated things. Discarded others.
But strangely, no joy.
I expected a sense of triumph—some inner lightness.
Instead? Silence. Stillness.
Even my laptop sat untouched.
“What’s going on?” I wondered.
This is my birthday month—usually a time I brim with ideas, joy, childlike excitement. But this year felt... off.
And then, like a soft whisper from the universe, I stumbled across a piece by Sandeep Atre titled Homing In.
He writes:
“We don’t live in bungalows, duplexes or flats.
We live in our minds.”
And in that moment, everything clicked.
Yes. We live in our minds.
We throw out physical clutter hoping for clarity…
But real calm comes when we clear our mental clutter.
Because our minds are our true homes—limitless, borderless, deeply personal.
No amount of perfect shelves or dust-free desks can compensate for the chaos within.
Here’s what I found hiding in the corners of my mind:
Regrets, like old receipts in a junk drawer.
Expectations, jammed tightly into closets.
Secrets swept under carpets.
Worries scattered like dust.
Comparisons spilled on the table.
Grudges rotting in sealed boxes.
We organize our homes.
We ignore the one home we carry everywhere—our mind.
And here’s the truth:
This housekeeping can’t be outsourced.
We have to do it ourselves—with honesty, with courage, with self-love.
Today’s Gentle Reminder:
Clutter is not just in your attic, garage, or office.
Clutter is also in your mind—and it distracts you from the amazing things you are meant to do.
So I resumed my clearing—this time not just around me, but within me.
And slowly, peace began to seep back in.
Not everything is okay yet—but the fog is lifting.
The world, my world, is beginning to feel right again.
Reflect Today:
What is one mental corner you’ve been avoiding?
What can you release that no longer serves you?
What would it feel like to live in a clean, calm, compassionate mind?
Let’s take care of this real home—
Our permanent address—
Our beautiful, limitless mind.
May your day be light, uncluttered, and full of space to breathe.
