Morning Muse 47 : Give - and You Shall Truly Live

Like the Dead Sea, life stagnates when we only take and never give. True abundance flows when we share—love, kindness, joy, and even resources. Giving is not loss—it’s the secret to receiving, to living fully, and to never running dry.

There’s a remarkable body of water in Israel that lies below sea level, endlessly receiving water—but giving none in return.
It’s called the Dead Sea.

Why “dead”? Because over time, the minerals have built up so heavily that no plant, no fish, no form of life can survive in it. It receives endlessly, but never releases.

Now, contrast that with a spring, a stream, or a river—always flowing, always giving, always brimming with life.

Herein lies a powerful metaphor.

Many of us live thinking: If only I had more, I’d be happy.
More money. More love. More peace. More success.

So, we focus on receiving—and hesitate to give.
Out of fear. Out of scarcity.
What if I run out? What if I’m left with nothing?

But like the Dead Sea, if we only take and never release, we stagnate.
Life stops flowing.
We stop living.

Giving is the secret to receiving.

It’s not just philosophy—it’s nature’s law.
The economy works this way.
So do relationships.
So does happiness.

  • Want kindness? Be kind.

  • Want love? Give love.

  • Want joy? Spread joy.

  • Want abundance? Share what you already have.

It may sound counterintuitive—even foolish at first. But it is the way the world truly works.

When you give—generously, sincerely, fearlessly—you open the gates for life to flow through you.
You create space for miracles.

We often wait—for someone else to change, for something to arrive, for the “right” moment.
But life doesn’t wait.

Take the first step.
Give.

And soon you’ll find that the act of giving is, in itself, a form of receiving.

Let life flow through you, not just to you.
Be like the river—not the Dead Sea.
And you’ll never run dry.
