Morning Muse 362 : Your Time Will Come

Life unfolds differently for each person, and comparing our progress with others often leads to unnecessary doubt and discouragement. Like the elephant whose longer journey prepared it for something greater, some dreams, blessings, and achievements require more time because they carry deeper purpose and impact. Patience, faith, and trust in one’s own timing are essential, as meaningful growth often happens quietly before it becomes visible to the world.

A young bamboo plant once complained to the old banyan tree, “I have been watered and cared for every day, yet I hardly seem to grow. The grass around me grows faster than I ever will.”

The banyan tree smiled and replied, “Do not compare your journey with what is meant to grow quickly. Some roots must go deeper before they rise higher.”

There is a similar story about an elephant and a dog who became pregnant around the same time. Within months, the dog gave birth to several puppies. Again and again, new litters arrived, and soon the puppies had grown into strong dogs.

Meanwhile, the elephant remained pregnant.

Impatient and confused, the dog finally asked,
“Are you sure you are carrying anything at all? We started together, yet I have already given birth many times.”

The elephant calmly replied,
“What I carry is not a puppy, but an elephant. It takes longer because what is being prepared is larger, stronger, and destined to leave a greater impact.”

How often in life do we compare our progress with others? Someone achieves success earlier, another receives recognition faster, while we quietly wonder if our efforts, prayers, or dreams are being ignored.

But life unfolds differently for each person.

Some journeys are meant to teach patience. Some destinies require deeper preparation. Not every seed blossom in the same season.

A mountain river does not envy the rain puddle because it knows its journey is toward the ocean.

The problem with comparison is that it makes us doubt our own timing. Yet nature itself teaches us that greatness often takes longer to mature.

What matters is something not how quickly happening, but how deeply rooted and meaningful it becomes.
