A king once asked a sage,
“How can I know if a person is truly wealthy?”

The sage pointed toward a farmer sitting peacefully under a tree and replied,
“The richest person is not always the one who owns the most, but the one who has mastered himself.”

Ancient wisdom speaks of six forms of inner wealth known as Shat Sampatti - treasures that shape strength of character and bring balance to life.

The first is Kshama - inner calmness. A peaceful mind sees clearly, while an agitated mind loses wisdom. Anger rarely improves situations, calmness often does.

The second is Dama - mastery over the senses. How often do we know something is unnecessary, yet continue because the senses pull us toward distraction? True discipline is when mind and actions move together harmoniously.

Then comes Titiksha - forbearance. Life will not always unfold according to our preferences. The ability to remain steady amidst discomfort, criticism, or setbacks is a sign of inner maturity.

The fourth treasure is Shraddha - faith. Much of life moves on trust, trust in people, in effort, in unseen possibilities, and in the journey itself. Faith is not blind belief, it is the courage to move forward even without complete certainty.

The fifth is Uparati - enthusiasm and joy in action. A person who works wholeheartedly, even in small tasks, brings energy and creativity into life. Enthusiasm itself becomes a source of strength.

And finally comes Samadhana - contentment. Not laziness, but a deep sense of inner fulfilment. Many great discoveries and insights arise not from restless striving, but from moments of relaxed awareness and stillness.

A lamp burns steadily only when protected from strong winds. Similarly, these six inner treasures protect the mind from restlessness and help the soul shine more clearly.

In today’s world, people often measure wealth only in terms of possessions, status, or success. Yet without peace, discipline, patience, faith, enthusiasm, and contentment, no outer achievement truly satisfies.
