When driven by need or selfishness, it leads to pain, but when guided by wisdom and giving, it becomes enduring and fulfilling. True love grows effortlessly when it is not demanded, but simply allowed to flow.

We often treat love like a transaction, measured, expected, negotiated. But love refuses to fit into such neat boundaries. It is not a deal to be struck, nor a result to be achieved. It is our very nature.
Like fragrance in a flower, love simply is. Whether expressed or not, it exists within us.
Yet, confusion begins when we turn love into expectation. “Will this last forever?” “Will I get back what I give?” History is full of stories where “forever” quietly dissolved into distance. Not because love failed but because it was mistaken for possession, comfort, or need.
A playwright once wrote, “Love that asks for applause forgets its own music.”
When love seeks validation, it becomes fragile. When it seeks to give, it becomes timeless.
Love without wisdom can cling, demand, and eventually exhaust itself. But love guided by awareness transforms, it becomes spacious, allowing, and deeply fulfilling. The shift is subtle yet profound: from What can I receive? to What can I offer?
When love becomes a means to extract happiness, it inevitably brings pain. But when it flows as care, without calculation it becomes unshakeable.
There is a quiet power in humility here.
To feel that the love we receive is more than we deserve softens the ego. It brings grace into relationships. We listen more, demand less, and hold others with greater understanding. The past loses its grip, and the present becomes lighter.
And strangely, when love is no longer demanded, it begins to grow effortlessly.
So perhaps love is not something to secure, but something to be. Not something to hold on to, but something to let flow through us.
