Morning Muse 309 : Rise Above, Don’t React
Not every challenge or criticism deserves your response—many dissolve when you choose to rise above them. Like the eagle that escapes the drongo by flying higher, growth comes from elevation, not engagement. Focus on your purpose, conserve your energy, and let distractions fall away on their own.

At dawn, the sky belongs to those who rise.
There is a small, fearless bird—the drongo—known to harass even the mighty eagle. It pecks, provokes, and clings. Yet the eagle does something remarkable. It does not retaliate. It does not waste time in mid-air skirmishes. It simply rises—higher and higher—until the air grows too thin for the drongo, and the nuisance quietly falls away.
There is a quiet wisdom here.
Not every criticism deserves a response.
Not every provocation merits your energy.
Many distractions survive only at lower altitudes—where noise is plenty and clarity is scarce. The moment you choose elevation over engagement, perspective over reaction, many problems begin to dissolve on their own.
In life and leadership, we often feel compelled to answer every voice, defend every stance, or correct every error. But growth demands discernment. The real question is not “How do I respond?” but “Is this worth descending for?”
An old forest ranger once shared a similar thought. When storms came, smaller birds fluttered anxiously among the branches, seeking cover. But the eagle spread its wings and used the very winds of the storm to rise above the clouds—where the sky remained still, vast, and undisturbed.
The lesson is simple, yet profound:
Rise above what seeks to pull you down.
As a timeless reminder echoes, “the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong… but time and chance happen to them all.” What truly shapes our journey is not how fiercely we fight every battle, but how wisely we choose them.
This morning, choose your altitude.
Let your work speak louder than your words.
Let your purpose outgrow your distractions.
Let your silence, when needed, become your strength.
Rise high enough that what once troubled you
can no longer reach you.
