Morning Muse 289 : The Height Depends on Where You Stand
Life feels lacking only because of where we stand. When perspective expands, complaints shrink and gratitude grows. Health, freedom, and even a single breath are privileges. We come with nothing and leave with nothing, so humility and awareness are our true wealth. Abundance begins the moment we learn to see it.

Life does not change as much as our vantage point does.
We measure ourselves constantly—by wealth, position, recognition, and comfort. Yet every measurement is relative. Move a few steps in any direction, and the scale changes.
What appears insufficient from one window appears abundant from another.
A man complains about his workload until he meets someone searching for work.
Another resents restrictions until he meets someone who has none of his freedoms.
A third worries about tomorrow until he encounters someone who has no more tomorrows to plan.
A traveller once climbed a small hill and declared,
“I am high above the world.”
An old sage nearby smiled and led him further up the mountain.
From there, the traveller saw vast valleys, rivers, and distant peaks.
“Now,” asked the sage, “are you still high?”
The traveller bowed his head.
“I am not high. I am small—and fortunate to see this view.”
The sage replied,
“Height is not about where you stand. It is about how much you see.”
Gratitude is born from expanded sight.
When vision widens, complaint shrinks.
When awareness deepens, entitlement dissolves.
Health becomes a privilege.
Freedom becomes a gift.
Even a single breath becomes grace.
We enter this world empty-handed, and we will leave it the same way.
The only meaningful possession in between is awareness—the ability to recognize and appreciate what already is.
Life is neither measured by accumulation nor secured by comparison.
It is dignified by humility and strengthened by gratitude.
Stand a little higher in awareness today.
You may discover that what you already have is abundance.
