Morning Muse 283 : The Sky Beyond the Weather
Our moods, influences, and situations are like changing weather—temporary and passing. Our true nature, however, is like the sky: vast, steady, and untouched by these changes. When we stop identifying with fleeting emotions and anchor ourselves in inner awareness, we discover natural calm and stability. Steadiness comes from realizing that we are the sky, not the clouds.

A young seeker once complained to a sage,
“My moods change like the weather. Some days I am calm, other days restless. People influence me. Situations disturb me. How can I ever remain steady?”
The sage took him outside.
Clouds were drifting swiftly across the sky.
“Look up,” the sage said. “Do the clouds belong to the sky?”
“They pass through it,” the seeker replied.
“Exactly. Time is like the changing seasons. Company is like the wind that moves the clouds. Even what you consume adds moisture to the air. But tell me—does the sky ever become the cloud?”
The seeker fell silent.
“You are disturbed because you think you are the weather,” the sage continued. “Strengthen your clarity, and you will rise above passing moods. Go deeper, and you will discover the vastness within you—the sky that holds all change, yet remains untouched.”
The clouds continued to move.
The sky remained.
When awareness shifts from the changing to the changeless,
influence loses its grip,
and steadiness becomes natural.
