Morning Muse 264 : The Longer Line
Problems seem overwhelming when we focus only on them, but they shrink when we widen our perspective. By serving others, remembering that every difficulty passes, calming the mind, and surrendering the outcome after sincere effort, we regain inner strength. With faith and a courageous smile, we rise above the storm instead of being defeated by it.

A wise teacher once drew a line on the board and asked his students to make it shorter—without touching or erasing it. One student stepped forward and simply drew a longer line beneath it. Instantly, the first line appeared smaller. The problem had not changed; only the perspective had.
Life’s challenges are much like that first line. When we look at them in isolation, they seem overwhelming, almost unbearable. But the moment we widen our view, something shifts. The weight begins to feel lighter.
If your difficulty feels too large, look beyond yourself. Somewhere, someone is carrying a heavier burden. When we serve others, even in small ways, our own struggles begin to shrink, and strength quietly returns.
Remind yourself gently: this too shall pass. Every hardship you have faced before has eventually softened or disappeared. This moment, too, is not permanent.
Sit quietly. Breathe deeply. Let the mind settle. A calm mind does not remove the storm, but it reduces its noise and helps you see clearly.
Do your best with sincerity, and then surrender the outcome to the Divine—not out of helplessness, but out of trust. Effort is yours; results are not always in your control.
And above all, keep smiling. Anyone can smile when life is easy. To smile in difficulty is an act of courage—a quiet declaration that you are larger than your circumstances.
Do not try to erase your problems.
Draw a longer line—of faith, service, patience, surrender, and inner strength.
And watch your problems become smaller.
