Morning Muse 222 : Brush Away the Flies

In the journey of life, small irritations are unavoidable. Thoughts arise—this person is difficult, these people disrespect me, I cannot tolerate this. Such reactions visit the mind again and again, often without invitation. The question is not why they come, but how we respond to them.

Consider a simple moment: you are engaged in important work and a fly lands on you. You do not lose your peace over it. You neither argue with it nor hold resentment. You simply brush it away and continue with what truly matters.

In the same way, many of life’s irritations are no more than passing flies—minor disturbances magnified only by our attention. When we treat these moments lightly, without agitation or suppression, they lose their power over us.

Each irritation then becomes an opportunity to cultivate acceptance, patience, and inner balance. By learning not to react excessively, we protect our peace and allow wisdom to grow quietly within.
