On the night before His crucifixion, Christ stood before His accusers. They mocked Him, spat at Him, and demanded His death—yet He remained silent. That silence was not weakness; it was wisdom. He knew that reaction feeds anger, but restraint transforms it. In His stillness was strength; in His forgiveness, freedom.

I am slowly learning to follow that example.

I don’t have to react to everything that hurts me. I don’t need to prove, defend, or retaliate. Sometimes walking away is the truest sign of maturity—not surrender, but sovereignty.

The energy we spend reacting to every slight drains the joy from living. Peace begins when we stop letting others dictate our emotions. Not reacting doesn’t mean indifference; it means choosing to rise above. It means choosing reflection over retaliation, and protecting the quiet within from the noise without.

I’m learning that not everyone will love me, agree with me, or treat me fairly—and that’s alright. My worth isn’t measured by others’ opinions; it rests in knowing who I am before God.

This Christmas Eve, as lights glow and carols fill the air, I seek a gentler celebration—the one that happens inside the heart when you stop fighting every battle and start resting in grace.

Reflection
Christ’s greatest miracle was not in His power, but in His peace.
When we learn to be still in the face of noise, we too touch the true spirit of Christmas—peace on earth, and peace within.
