Morning Muse 156 : The Quiet Battlefield Within

Conflicts are rarely born from truth—they rise from ego’s need to be right. Life is short, yet we spend it defending pride instead of choosing love and peace. When we become still and aware, we realise the real war was never outside—it was always within.

“Most wars are not fought on battlefields, but within hearts.”

There are mornings when silence becomes a mirror—not reflecting the world, but revealing our own unrest. I often wonder: why do we fight? Why do we argue, wound one another, and carry bitterness that time eventually washes away?

Does it truly matter who was right and who was wrong?

Most conflicts don’t originate from truth—they rise from ego, that unseen ruler within, desperate to be acknowledged. An argument won often leaves the heart emptier. Every victory of ego is a quiet defeat of peace.

Life is brief, a small flame between two vast silences. We arrive with nothing and we leave with nothing. Why then do we spend our precious moments guarding anger, pride, and opinions that fade like footprints in rain?

Ego creates separation, convincing us we must defend identity, belief, and self-image. But in stillness, the illusion dissolves. The same breath flows through all beings. To hurt another is to wound oneself.

Love dims when pride stands taller than tenderness. Within every heart rests a white dove of peace, waiting—unheard, wings folded—until we soften.

Reflection
Sit in silence today. Watch closely.
Notice when ego speaks—and when the inner quiet answers.
