Morning Muse 126 : When Life Brings You Back to the Same Bridge
Years after being told, “I don’t like you,” fate brought them face to face again — but this time, he was the interviewer. Instead of revenge, he chose kindness. This story reminds us that forgiveness is strength, grace is power, and life often circles back not for revenge, but for redemption.

Six years ago, a man looked me straight in the eye and said,
“I don’t like you.”
I smiled and replied,
“That’s fine. Your liking me won’t pay my bills or define my future. I only seek God’s approval, not man’s.”
Years later, destiny circled back. As part of an interview panel for a top company, I watched that same man walk in — nervous, CV trembling in his hands. The air thickened with irony. The one who once disliked me now sat before me, hoping for a chance.
When my turn came, I looked at him and said softly,
“I like you. You’re intelligent — just a little unsettled today.”
His eyes widened in disbelief. I stood, offered him a hug, and told him to regain his confidence. The tension melted. Laughter filled the room. And yes — he got the job.
Life has a beautiful way of bringing us back to those we once clashed with — not for revenge, but for redemption. The true test of character is not how we treat those who admire us, but how we lift those who once wronged us.
Forgive easily. Speak kindly. Act graciously — even when life gives you the upper hand.
Every act of compassion is an investment in divine favour.
Never burn bridges — life’s river often flows back under them.
