Day and night, clouds and colours appear in the sky—and just as easily, they fade. In the same way, thoughts arise in the mind and then dissolve. You may feel anger, envy, or sadness, but do you stay in that state forever? Just as the twilight gives way to night, each emotion eventually passes.
The Shiv Sutra “Atma Chittam” reminds us that the mind itself is the Self. Whatever arises—anger, desire, or jealousy—cannot stain the purity of the Self, which remains untouched, like the clear sky behind drifting clouds. Even what we perceive as “negative” emotions are part of the Divine, and therefore, part of us.
Daily sadhana trains the mind gradually, like workers taking shifts in a factory—some neurons work today, others tomorrow. Consistent meditation and self-awareness refine the mind’s patterns, cultivating clarity, wisdom, and liberation over time.
When we truly understand that the mind itself is the Self, we see that every thought and emotion is transient. The mind is Divine, the Self is ever pure, and awareness itself becomes our greatest freedom. This realization brings peace, discernment, and mastery over life.
