Background

Colonel Prakash Tewari (Retd) is a distinguished Indian Army veteran, environmental expert, and spiritual author, known for his leadership in both conflict zones and corporate boardrooms. A Garhwal Rifles officer and alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), he brings over four decades of experience in defense, mentoring, sustainability, and innovation.

During his military career, Colonel Tewari served in conflict-affected regions and played a pivotal role in peacebuilding initiatives, including pioneering psychological warfare strategies for reconciliation in Nagaland. He also held the position of Director of Policy Ecology at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence, contributing to national-level environmental strategy and policy.

Transitioning to the corporate sector, he led the CSR, Education, Environment, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement functions at major Indian corporations such as Tata Power, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., and DLF. His efforts have been instrumental in driving sustainable development, social impact, and carbon innovation across industries.

A deeply spiritual individual, Colonel Tewari’s transformation journey was shaped by his experiences in high-altitude regions of Uttarakhand—home to the sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites—as well as by his engagements with various spiritual leaders. He is the author of acclaimed books on spiritual growth and positive psychology, including Bunker to Bliss and Morning Muse.

He serves as an advisor to Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Spiritual Leader of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, and is affiliated with spiritual and humanitarian organizations such as ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, Vivekananda Kendra, Parmarth Niketan, Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers, International Academy of Vedic Vidya, and SN Goenka Vipassana Centers.

Currently, he is a member of the Expert Appraisal Committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, where he evaluates major infrastructure and coastal regulation zone projects. He also mentors global interfaith dialogues and serves on the board of Grameen Social Impact Ventures.
